Aloha HIBIKE members!

Summer is upon us, offering more daylight for your biking adventures in beautiful Hawaii. Whether you're exploring new routes or revisiting favorite paths, there's no better time to ride. We're here to help you make the most of this vibrant season with HIBIKE!

Safety - Be Alert

Ride
  • Do not ride with headphones on so you can hear everything going on around you. This includes not using your cell phone while riding.

  • Be ready to yield. Although drivers should be sharing the road, be ready to give drivers the right of way.

  • Use bike lanes, not sidewalks. Stick to designated bike lanes for a safer ride. Sidewalks are for pedestrians, and using bike lanes helps ensure everyone’s safety.

  • Always wear a helmet. Protect your head by always wearing a properly fitted helmet. It’s the most effective way to prevent serious injuries while riding.

  • Stay visible. Wear bright clothing and use lights or reflectors, especially when riding at dawn, dusk, or night. This helps drivers see you better and keeps you safe.

Tips & Tricks

Returning your HiBike

  • Push your bike firmly into an open dock and wait until the LED light on the keypad turns green before walking away. If you are using the PBSC app you can check the "trips" tab on the app. If the app shows an active trip, your bike has NOT been docked properly.

  • If you have a flat tire, lift up (off the ground) the tire that is flat as you push the bike into the dock, aligning the brass triangle (triangle is above the front tire) with the dock until you get a green light on the keypad.

  • If something is wrong with your bike, after you see the green light on the keypad when returning it, please press the red wrench button (on top of the keypad) to alert our staff.

  • If you are not sure whether you saw the green light or not, please contact the call center while you are still at the station with your bike. You can reach the call center at 888-859-2453 or email us at info@hawaiiislandbike.com.
